Let’s start by sharing how I transformed our living room with digital art on our TV. Using inexpensive digital artwork, you can easily change the ambiance of any room. Digital art is incredibly budget-friendly—often costing less than $5—and it can be reused multiple times.
Sizing Your Digital Art
Before displaying your digital art on a TV, ensure the artwork is correctly sized. Most widescreen TVs have a 16:9 aspect ratio, and many digital prints come pre-sized for TV use.
Displaying Art with AirPlay Mirroring (iPhone, iPad, or Mac)
AirPlay mirroring allows you to share content from your Apple device to your TV. Here’s how:
1. Add your digital artwork to an album in the Photos app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
2. Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your AirPlay-compatible TV.
3. Open Control Center on your device.
4. Tap Screen Mirroring.
5. Select your TV from the list.
6. Enter the AirPlay passcode if prompted.
7. Open the Photos app on your device.
8. Select the folder containing your digital artwork.
9. Choose Slide Show or a single image to display.
10. In Slide Show options, select “Dissolve” under Themes and adjust the speed.
Displaying Art with a USB Flash Drive
1. Copy your digital art folder onto a flash drive.
2. Plug the flash drive into your TV’s USB port. This usually launches the TV’s photo viewing app.
3. Start a slideshow or select an image to view. If you need to restart the photo viewing app, unplug and reinsert the flash drive.
Displaying Art with Roku
1. Upload your digital artwork to a Google Photos album.
2. Install the Photo View channel on your Roku.
3. Sign in with your Google account and select your album.
4. In Roku settings, choose Photo View as your screensaver.
Displaying Art with Fire TV
1. Upload your photos to an Amazon Photos collection.
2. On your Fire TV, navigate to Display and Sounds > Screensaver.
3. Select Current Screensaver and choose your photo collection.
Display Artwork on TV with Apple TV
1. Add your digital artwork to an album in the Photos app on your Mac.
2. Create a Shared Album and upload your artwork.
3. On Apple TV, open the Photos app and go to the Shared category (enable Shared Albums in Settings if needed).
4. Select your shared album and choose Slideshow. Adjust settings to your preference.
Display Artwork on Any 4K TV by Mirroring with Google or Apple Devices
1. Create an album with the images you want to display.
2. Mirror your phone or tablet to your TV.
3. Start a slideshow on your device, which will be mirrored on your TV.
For an uninterrupted experience, consider using a dedicated device for the slideshow. This way, notifications or phone usage won’t disrupt the display.
